The Spiritual Practice of Giving

There are many benefits of giving including the warm, peaceful feeling you obtain when you know you’ve done something to help another.  Giving is not just tithing to your place of worship or giving money to charitable causes.  Giving is so much more.  You give when you smile at someone you do no know.  You give when you say thank you to the sales person or clerk at the store.  You give when you send a birthday or thank you card to someone who is in need of feeling wanted and loved.

Make it a practice to give something to everyone you meet.  It could be a smile, a thank you, or an honest, sincere compliment.  This practice will open channels for you to receive God’s blessings.  You will not always receive in the manner that you give, or in a time frame coincident with the giving.  If you would like to receive more blessings in your life you need to create a vacuum in your life in which to receive, and then you need to thank God in advance for your blessings.  Wanting more money, but hoarding what you have will only cause the flow of money to you to be blocked.

This follows the principle of The Law of Compensation.  That is, what you think about all day long will be your experience of life.  If you think about how you can give all day
long, your experience will be that of others giving to you.  Try it out and see for yourself how you can benefit from this ancient spiritual practice.
